A
utumn leaves fell quietly on the village of Wuwei. It had been three centuries since the
building of the Great Wall had passed and it horrors still remained in the wind (legend has
it that this is why the leaves fall during every cold season). Cut off by this barbarous
barrier, the people of Wuwei's could not sing.
Although the fall harvest brought much food and happiness to the small village, it was
indeed a bad thing. For on the other side of this cultural contraceptive was the village of
Lanzhou, who unlike Wuwei, had many great songs to sing.
This was not how it had always been. Once before the herculean hindrance there was a
happier time when Wuwei and Lanzhou share the songs of joy and much butter was made.
But not any more. The wall had put a stop to that; oh yes!
So, Wuwei assembled an army of little size but great stupidity and proceeded to the village
of Lanzhou to take back the songs that were rightfully theirs. But as the sun sizzled out
into the great ocean, they all remembered, "THE WALL!", how would the break through
this stupendous structure. It was then that no one had an idea. Fate, it seemed, was on
vacation.
Just when there seemed no hope, there was not. Just when all seemed lost, it was. So
they returned to Wuwei and resumed their harvest with no songs to keep them happy. But
this was not for nothing, for the Sing Fish had witnessed this feeble attempt at freedom.
Spitting out his cigar, he laughed full-heartily, and gulped down his whiskey.
It was the Singing One who had enslaved the village centuries ago by building this artificial
agglomeration. This was done so that the Wet One would not endure their horrible voices.
Also, the people of Lanzhou were beautiful and should not confer with retched being of
their type. After all, Wuwei terrible singing would cause the trees to lose their leaves.
But the fun was over. The Singing One looked to his next considerable calling in the
Americas; The Railroad. With the villagers of Wuwei he just might succeed. He would
take all via large ships that failed to snatch a pebble from his fin and any who would tear
the rice paper as they walked on it. But that you see, is a different story and has nothing to
do with this one.
